Smt. Mamatha Datta
A passionate student and teacher, who dedicated her life to Bharatanatyam, a south Indian classical dance form. She started her dance practice since the age of 9 years from Guru Sri. Chandre Gowda from Mysore and continued learning from Sri. Sujith Kumar Aradhya a disciple of famous Guru Sri. Mysore Rajagopal.
She has passed her senior grade exams with high first class in Bharatanatyam conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education Board of Government of Karnataka, India. Currently, she is learning advanced Bharatanatyam for ‘Vidwat’, the highest award in the field of music and dance.
Smt. Mamatha has given performance since her childhood in various places having number of spectators from few hundreds to several thousands. Some of them to quote are, ‘Hemanta Lasya’ in Sringeri Shradamba Temple, ‘Hemanta Lasya’ in Kalasa, ‘Tunga Mahotsava’ in Shivamogga, Ganesha festivlas in Sringeri and so on.
She founded Mayuri Natya Kalakendra in 1993 to teach Bharatanatyam to interested students and gradually added music and folk dance to the school as a part of extended cultural services of the trust. “Hemanta Lasya” is the popular dance performance introduced by the school to encourage students of the school and to create awareness and interest in the public about Indian dance and music. It is usually performed annually during November or December months.
