Eyes can communicate better than words. Very important part of Bharatanatyam is art of communicating a story to the spectators with visual means like hand gestures, body language and facial expressions. This communication will be made more interesting by means of steps and music in a sequence and then it becomes a dance.
Eyes of the dancer has very important role in bringing about various facial expressions and that is what brings life to the whole performance. ‘Navarasa’, nine different emotions, are very important in any kind of art forms to fill life in that. Similarly expressive eyes are very important to effectively display any ‘rasa’.
